Description: drooping yellow flower petals with dark center cone which grow on a long stalk at the top of the plant.
These perennial,
plants are up to 5 feet tall, with leaves that are deeply lobed and toothed on the edges. The leaves are a dull green and are 2 to 8 inches long.
Suggested seed treatment: You should provide 10 days of cold moist stratification. Many prairie wildflower seeds benefit by moist cold stratification, some require it to germinate. Seed that you purchase from Oak Prairie Farm has not received cold moist stratification. Direct planting tips: Plant seed in desired location covered by 1/4 inch deep soil, and firm. Transplants: If you grow transplants from our seed: transplant while dormant in spring or fall, trim long roots, plant with buds just below the soil surface, space 1 to 2 feet apart. Very vigorous. Easy to start indoors. Companion prairie plants: Round headed bush clover, Wild lupine, Rigid goldenrod, Big bluestem, Indian grass. Comments: Very vigorous. Good for cut arrangements. Native Americans used the root to cure toothache. |
