Botanical name: Aster oolentangiensis (Aster azureus)
  

Description:  small light blue flowers growing on many branching stalks at the top of the plant. These perennial, branching plants are up to 3 feet tall, with sandpapery heart shaped leaves with toothed edges.
Attracts: Butterflies and Honeybees.
Bloom time: From August through October.
Range:Northern U.S.
Sunshine:Full sun to partial shade.
Moisture: Middle to dry.
Soil types: Sandy loam best.

Suggested seed treatment:   No pretreatment needed.

Direct planting tips:   Plant seed in desired location covered by 1/4 inch of soil, and firm.

Transplants:   If you grow transplants from our seed: transplant while dormant in spring or fall, trim long roots, plant with buds just below the soil surface, space 1 to 2 feet apart. Mature plants can be divided.

Companion prairie plants:    Butterfly milkweed, Pale purple coneflower, Yellow coneflower, Big bluestem, Indian grass.

Comments:   Very vigorous.
