Description:   numerous clusters of small bright yellow flowers grow on a branching stalk at the top of the plant. These perennial, plants are up to 5 feet tall, with very leafy stems. The leaves are narrow but not hairy.
Attracts: Honeybees.
Bloom time: From August to October.
Range:Common in tall grass prairie, less common south of Missouri.
Sunshine:Full sun.
Moisture: Middle to dry.
Soil types: Sandy loam best.

Suggested seed treatment:   You should provide 10 days of cold dry stratification. All seed that you purchase from Oak Prairie Farm has received dry cold stratification.

Direct planting tips:   Plant seed in desired location and cover the seeds with 1/4 inches of soil, and firm.

Transplants:   If you grow transplants from our seed: transplant while dormant in spring or fall, trim long roots, plant with buds just below the soil surface, space 1 to 2 feet apart.

Companion prairie plants:    Round headed bush clover, Rough blazing star, Cream wild indigo, Big bluestem, Little bluestem.

Comments:   These flowers dry well for arrangements. They are good for fall bouquets.
