Description: Bright yellow flowers are not toothed or fan shaped and are paler then other coreopsis, grow at the top individual flower stalks.
These perennial,
plants are up to 3 feet tall, with slender leaves that are divided into long narrow segments which are prominently veined.
Suggested seed treatment: You should provide 30 days of cold moist stratification. Many prairie wildflower seeds benefit by moist cold stratification, some require it to germinate. Seed that you purchase from Oak Prairie Farm has not received cold moist stratification. Direct planting tips: Plant seed in desired location covering the seed 1/2 inch with soil, and firm. Transplants: If you grow transplants from our seed: transplant while dormant in spring or fall, trim long roots, plant with buds just below the soil surface, space 1 to 2 feet apart. Companion prairie plants: Leadplant, Butterfly milkweed, Rough blazing star, Big bluestem, Indian grass. Comments: Very vigorous. Nice for the home landscaper. Many beekeepers consider it to make wonderful honey. Native Americans used it as a dye and to cure rheumatism. |
