NATIVE FERNS
All of our ferns are grown from spores at the nursery, or are produced by division of larger nursery stock.
They are never dug from the wild. Commercial digging of wild ferns usually results in the destruction of the fern bed.
Below is a table of cultural information about the species of ferns we carry. Scroll down further for color pictures.

Native Fern Propagation Kits
Since ferns do not produce seeds, they are usually sold and used as plants.
However, it is possible to grow these amazing ancient plants at home, from spores.
We offer all of the fern listed above (except those listed in underlined italics) in Native Fern Propagation Kits.
Growing ferns from spores requires good instructions, good sanitation, proper growing media,
controlled humidity, controlled temperature, and patience. Our Native Fern Propagation Kits include spores,
propagation instructions, growing media, gametophyte containers, tweezers, and sporophyte containers.
Kits do not include lights or heaters, since appropriate lighting and temperature can be found in most homes.
Each Native Fern Propagation Kit can produce up to 12 mature native ferns.
